Hurricane season officially began on June 1 and we’d like to remind everyone to prepare your pet for any type of emergency situation. Hurricanes, fires, floods and family emergencies are just a few examples why “Fido” needs a packed bag!
Here are a few tips to get you started:
1.) Vacuum seal a couple of pouches of their favorite dry dog food. This will keep it fresh for many months and also protects it from getting wet or crushed.
2.) Make a list of emergency phone numbers including your veternarian and your local 24 hour emergency clinic. Make a note of shelters in your area that accept pets, and have a backup plan (family or friends) just in case.
3.)Current Immunization Records!!! and any medications you might need for 3-5 days.
3.) Place a current photo of your pet in your emergency bag just in case you need to make fliers.
4.) Pack a towel. This can be used for everything from drying off, wiping up cleaning up and bedding.
Don’t forget the essentials like collars, leashes, toys, brushes, and water.
